Pop star Anastacia is to wed her
bodyguard — after he told her he wanted to “protect her
forever”.
Burly Wayne Newton, 38, from Beckenham,
Kent, proposed to the US star after guarding her on several
tours.
The romance mirrors the hit film
Bodyguard — where Whitney Houston’s character falls for
her minder, played by Kevin Costner.
A friend of Anastacia and Wayne said
yesterday: “She fell for him hook, line and sinker. It’s
very sexy to have someone looking after you.
“He went down on bended knee and said
he couldn’t imagine a life where he wasn’t protecting
her. She said yes instantly. They are so much in love it is
unbelievable.”
Martial
arts expert Wayne, became a shoulder for Anastacia, 33, to
cry on after she battled breast cancer.
He left his girlfriend Lorraine Elston
— the mum of his two children, aged nine and two — for
the singer in March.
He has
moved into her Beverly Hills home and they will wed next
year, splitting their time between the US and Britain.
Anastacia
had betrothal ring in roadshow in Moscow.
